As we celebrate Father's Day weekend, we thought you'd enjoy reading this client testimony recently recorded by our Fatherhood Program Coordinator, Tyrone Hunter.
We hope that you will be encouraged in remembering the vital role of serving the Fathers who come through the doors of APRC -- not only emotionally and physically,
but spiritually as well.
After completing his paperwork, James spoke with Tyrone and indicated that
he was nervous about Susanna's pregnancy.
James told Tyrone that he and Susanna had a rocky relationship that had been on and off for about five years; however, they had come to realize how much they cared for each other. He wasn't sure if she was pregnant, but said that if she was (pregnant) he knew he wanted her to have the baby.
James also mentioned that he was nervous about becoming a first-time father. Tyrone told James about some of the classes that were offered through APRC's Fatherhood Program, including but not limited to, the Relationship Communication Enhancement Class and Dr. Dad.
Lastly, James had also indicated that he was open to discussing some spiritual concerns that he had... More specifically, James stated that although he attended church,
he did not believe that he was saved, and knew that he wanted to get closer to God. . .
Tyrone recommended that James get connected with a Sunday School class and said a short prayer with him before concluding the visit. A few minutes later, as Tyrone worked on James’ paperwork, he began to feel the Holy Spirit prompting him as if He were saying, “James said he wanted to know God. Are you going to let him leave without the opportunity to know Jesus as his personal savior?” At that point, Tyrone invited James to return to the consultation room and shared the Gospel with him and extended the invitation for him to trust Jesus and Jesus alone for his salvation.
James prayed to God, telling Him exactly what he wanted, and put his faith in Christ.
We are so grateful to have our Fatherhood Program in place. Men currently make up 24% of the clients that are served at APRC. Because of your generous support, there is a safe place for men to gain confidence in their role as fathers, and to develop co-parenting skills. They also hear and experience the love of Christ. In the case of James, he not only discovered that he could learn how to be a good father at APRC, but he met his Heavenly Father.

We want to take a moment to acknowledge two important changes taking place this month within Team APRC. Leah Parkison St. Denis has left after ten years of service to APRC, most recently as the Communications Manager. Additionally, Jenna Parkison Shanahan has also left her role at APRC as Bookkeeper. We are grateful for their dedication and service, and pray blessings over their families!
"This month brings back many good memories for me as it was this month 10 years ago that I first walked through the doors and began my journey as a volunteer, and later staff member, with APRC. However, this June in particular the memories are bittersweet, as God has called me away and into the new chapter of full-time motherhood. My precious 4 month old son is a complete joy, and it is a privilege to serve my family in this new realm of pro-life ministry.
APRC has been such an integral part of my life and God has used the people -- staff, volunteers, clients, and ministry partners -- to grow, challenge, and bless me in immeasurable ways. The words don't seem adequate, but I am truly honored to have been given the opportunity to serve with this ministry, and I cannot wait to see how God will work through APRC in the years to come!" - Leah Parkison St. Denis, pictured with Baby H
"I am so thankful to God for the gift of serving with APRC! And the opportunity to now stay home full-time serving my husband and sweet baby. I will miss being on staff, but look forward to remaining involved in other ways. See you at the Gala!"
