On January 13, 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation designating January 22 as the first National Sanctity of Human Life Day. (January 22, 1973, was the day the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion-on-demand in all 50 states.) Churches around the United States use the day to celebrate God's gift of life, commemorate the many lives lost to abortion, and commit themselves to protecting human life at every stage. Many churches continue to recognize the third Sunday in January as Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. This year that date will be January 15.
Numerous events are planned all across the country including March for Life at the National Mall on January 27 and the Georgia March for Life and Memorial Service on January 23 at Liberty Plaza. Additionally, the 28th annual Mass for the Unborn in Atlanta will be celebrated on January 23, at the Cathedral of Christ the King.
It seems that there are inevitably changes with each passing year and this has been no exception. We had an addition…
Jon David Huffman joined the APRC Board of Directors in October 2016.
… and we had some transitions...
Amy Wilson, who served as our Data Coordinator is no longer on staff however, we are pleased that she may continue to volunteer at APRC on an as needed basis.
Wayne Paul is no longer employed with APRC as the Fatherhood Program Liaison; however, he still volunteers as a Fatherhood Program Facilitator at APRC on a regular basis.
Schain Irion, our former Manager of Compliance and Strategic Initiatives, has accepted a position with another pro-life nonprofit. We’re hopeful that the foundation laid at APRC will contribute to Schain’s future endeavors and success in ministry.
Eva Threatte served as the Treasurer of the APRC Board of Directors from October 2012 through December 26. She will continue to serve on the Finance Committee. Eva and her husband are looking forward to the birth of their first child in May.
Last but not least, December 31st marked the end of Dr. Beecham’s service as APRC’s Medical Director. Doc’s willingness to serve in the capacity of APRC’s first Medical Director enabled us to provide medical services to nearly 3,150 patients and perform over 1,400 ultrasound scans in just under 8 years.
We could not have done it without him!
Team APRC greatly appreciates that each of these individuals answered God’s call to pro-life ministry. We have been honored and blessed that each of the aforementioned individuals chose to live out their calling by serving at APRC! May God bless you and keep you… for life!
